About Fishing at Trailhead Resort
Fishing in Port Renfrew compares favourably with the most remote and legendary fishing locations in British Columbia. Yet, if you have ever experienced overcrowded conditions at highly publicized fishing destinations, Port Renfrew is a welcome change. It is a quiet, undeveloped location with a small marina, local fishing experts and beautiful wilderness.
On Trailhead’s Vancouver Island fishing charters you’ll catch an abundance of quality fish with our seasoned guides. We use proven techniques developed and perfected exclusively for BC halibut and salmon fishing.
Trailhead Resort has 3 custom-designed, welded-aluminum vessels built by Silver Streak Boats of Vancouver Island for Vancouver Island fishing charters. Our boats are comfortably outfitted with large heated cabins, enclosed marine toilets and satellite stereos.
Vancouver Island Salmon Fishing
We’re located at the entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and our salmon season is long and plentiful. Chinook runs feed heavily at the entrance to the strait before their last big push to the rivers. Chinook and Coho also feed before entering the San Juan and Nitnat rivers.
So for your Vancouver Island fishing charters with Trailhead, you’ll enjoy great fishing, comfortable accommodations, friendly guides, and a quiet location that feels remote but is easy to get to.
BC Halibut Fishing
Our halibut grounds are some of the best in the world. To the south Sombrio Point and Jordan River, with their unique shallow waters, provide ideal conditions for halibut trolling. To the north Carmanah Point and Swiftsure Banks are some of the most productive halibut grounds in the world.
From June 1 onward you will catch limits of 20 to 50 lbs of halibut and daily limits are two fish.
